Computer games provide a rich context for learning about language and stories. This course will use the world of gaming as a context for developing student skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and presenting. Students taking this course need to understand that this is an English course, and the content will be connected, but not actually include the playing or creating of digital games. We will be looking closely at the hero and narrative structure of games to inform us about the structures that exist in games and their stories. We will also explore why we enjoy games and develop arguments around our own engagement.
Assessments in this course will be offered according to the learning needs of the students.
