Term 3 is up and running. This is a particularly short term - only 8 weeks of classes. The 9th week is for mock exams (year 11-13) and Ski Camp (year 10). Students need to be focussed and thoughtful about their time management.
English and Gaming students are making podcasts! Podcasts are like a radio segment - purely audio and about anything and everything. The class has chosen topics that interest them and are busy collecting their own view and others'. They will construct and deliver this "new" form of oral text (instead of a speech), using their voice as their main tool of engagement. This is something new for us, so here we go!
English for the Trades students are in the middle of an assessment exploring an issue and developing their own conclusions about it. Their findings will be written into a report and submitted on August 18th. We will then study a film together, analyse it, and prepare for external exams.
English Communications is viewing Gladiator right now and learning how to closely view aspects of film. This film is also being studied for the external exam. It will also be the inspiration of some creative writing.
Year 10 English is working on static images and will move onto novel for the remainder of Term 3. We will be using Europe and North America as our contextualization.
Last term, I missed the opportunity to meet with parents as I was out of country. Please contact me as needed to rectify this.
